IIFA begins amid missing glamour and threats

International Indian film Academy awards ceremonies have started in Colombo, but the glamour is still missing as most of the big celebrity actors have kept themselves away from the functions. Back home in India, sentiments of the people are not with the awards due to a reports of mistreatment of the Tamil people in the country for many years.

There has been open threat to the Bollywood stars if they attended the awards. South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce also had urged Bollywood to boycott the IIFA award. Now the chamber has announced that it will stop screening of films of the actors who participated in the awards.

The Chamber is of the view that the award function will be used by the Sri Lankan government to project a false peace in the region.
