Apart from the women’s reservation bill passed by the Rajya Sabha and the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2010, to replace an ordinance, no significant legislation was passed in parliament in the first part of the budget session.

*The Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India Bill, 2010 – which seeks to establish a Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India to regulate research in, import, transport and use of biotechnology organisms and products.
*The Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation of Entry and Operation) Bill, 2010 – which seeks to regulate the entry and operations of foreign educational institutions in India.
*The Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, 2010- to amend the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.
*The Emigration Management Bill, 2010 – seeks to prevent illegal migration and human smuggling, enables ethical recruitment practices, enhancing protection and welfare of emigrants and managing student mobility.
*The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2010 – to amend the act on the basis of actual experiences in implementation and in view of relevant judicial decisions.
*The Dam Safety Bill, 2010 – to provide for proper surveillance, inspection and maintenance of dams to ensure their safe functioning.
*The Anti Hijacking (Amendment) Bill, 2010 – seeking to provide the death penalty and other stringent punishments for hijacking planes.
*The Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2010 – seeking to control illegal trade in wildlife, parts and products and constitution of bodies, committees, tribunals, etc., for the purpose.
*The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Amendment Bill, 2010 – to amend the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, in order to make it more humane.
*The Institute of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010 – to bring eight new IITs within the ambit of the existing act.
*The Copyright (Amendment) Bill, 2010 – providing protection to the copyright works in the digital environment, protecting concerns of physically disabled persons, etc.
*The Innovation Universities Bill, 2010 – seeks to provide for establishment of innovation universities aiming at world class standards.
