Last year, the two one on one failures were really disappointing but on Monday India was finally successful in test firing the nuclear capable Agni II missile,

Over a range of 2,000 km from a launch site in Orissa.

The surface to surface missile was tested by army officials that comprised their training exercise from Wheeler’s Island in Bhadrak district.

Director of the test range S.P. Dash revealed, “It was a very successful launch. It met all the mission objectives.”

The Agni II missile is a part of India’s Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme which is 20 metres long and has the capability to carry a load of 1,000 kg.
The missile weighs 17 tonnes whose range can be increased by reducing the payload.

This missile can be fired from both rail as well as road mobile launchers.

The earlier two tests held in May and November could not offer the desired objectives and were declared as failed but now the errors have been corrected by the scientists.
