The crazed crusaders of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have recruited a new celebrity endorser: outspoken actress Jane Lynch.

Just weeks after launching an anti-animal cruelty campaign with Lynch’s Glee co-star Lea Michele, the group is teaming up with the star — who plays opinionated Cheerios coach Sue Sylvester on the hit show — to crack down on pet breeders and the dangers of animal overpopulation in a quirky new PETA public service announcement.

“[T]here’s 8 to 10 million dogs that are put into shelters every year and only about half of them are adopted out, so the other half are euthanized. And you know, it’s a terrible thing to come into this world only to be, you know, taken out prematurely, so we can control this population by spay and neutering our own pets,” Jane says in the new commercial.

Citing the growing animal overpopulation epidemic sweeping big cities across the US, Lynch also wrote a letter on PETA’s behalf to Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, urging him to support a law that would require dogs and cats in her hometown to be spayed or neutered.
