Jessica Simpson “The X Factor America” Judge?

Add ditzy singer-turned-fashion mogul Jessica Simpson to the pot of contenders vying for a coveted judging spot alongside Music’s Meanest Man when The X Factor America premieres on FOX next fall.

TV industry tattles thought European sweetheart and talent show alum Cheryl Cole had the gig all wrapped up until pop divas Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Christina Aguilera emerged as frontrunners as potential judges on Simon Cowell’s eagely-anticipated talent show event. Christina pooh-poohed rumors tying her to The X Factor in a press statement last week, but Jessica’s still a strong option, gossips say.

“Jessica Simpson has been having contract negotiations with X Factor US bosses about being a potential judge for the show. She is pipped for the role over Cheryl Cole, who execs still think is a hit-or-miss. Jessica is one of Americas’ most loved celebrities after her successful MTV reality show and is the perfect example of the All-American girl,” an informant tells the Talking Heads at Holy Moly.

As talent show aficionados will recall, Jessica had been first in line to join Randy Jackson on the judging panel of American Idol before her manager-dad Joe Simpson frightened off show producers with a laundry list of demands at the negotiating table last fall.
