Joan Rivers doctor fired

Yorkville Endoscopy’s medical director, Dr. Lawrence Cohen has been fired following the throat procedure that led to comedian Joan Rivers’ death,
ABC News reports.

Rivers reportedly stopped breathing while undergoing an outpatient surgery on her vocal chords Aug. 28 and pronounced dead Sept. 4.

TMZ reports Cohen stepped down after a recommendation from the clinic’s board, because he allowed Rivers’ ENT doctor to step in and perform an unauthorized throat biopsy, ultimately sending the
“Fashion Police” host into cardiac arrest.
