Well….you knew this was coming.

The new year brought proof of the long-rumored romance between pop heartthrob Justin Bieber and Disney actress Selena Gomez — and perhaps not surprisingly, the news has infuriated Bieber’s devoted legion of young female fans.

In fact, they’re already bombarding Selena with electronic death threats.

In a series of snaps that emerged online over the weekend, Gomez and Bieber are spotted kissing aboard a yacht in St. Lucia. Beliebers are seething that Selena, who continues to insist that she is “only friends” with Justin, would have the unmitigated gull to romance their Similac-scented Messiah, and they are wasting any time giving the cute-as-a-button brunette a piece of their minds:

This isn’t the first time a beautiful woman has been the subject of Twitter death threats after daring to come within 50 yards of the nation’s most popular teenager. Last spring, a number of Bieber’s fans vowed to “shank” socialite Kim Kardashian after she took a picture with Justin at the 2010 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Selena, 18, previously dated Jonas Brothers star Nick Jonas, while Justin was most recently romantically-linked to his “One Less Lonely Girl” video love interest, Jasmine Villegas.
