Kelsey Grammer ‘Excited’ to Meet (and Smell!) Grandkid

Kelsey Grammer is getting excited about the latest role he’s about to take on: grandfather.

The actor’s expectant daughter, Spencer Grammer, is due with a baby boy on Saturday – although she says she’s expecting a late arrival – and she says her dad is eagerly awaiting the new addition.

“I mean, he loves babies,” the Greek star, 27, told PEOPLE Thursday in Los Angeles at a screening of her father’s new show, Boss. “Doesn’t everyone love babies? They’ve got a certain smell and stuff, so he’s very excited for that.”

Perhaps her little one will eventually have a playmate within the family. “All in good time,” Spencer Grammer says of her father’s plans to have a baby with new wife Kayte Walsh. (The couple announced last October that Walsh had a miscarriage.)

The actress says she’s looking forward to focusing on her little one, which will be her first with husband James Hesketh.

“We spend our lives thinking about ourselves so much,” she says. “I’m excited to meet the baby because he’s just been living inside my belly for the last nine months.”
