The clock’s struck midnight, which means today is the day that Lindsay Lohan began serving time behind bars for probation violation — and this time, her stay will be longer than the 84 minutes she spent at a suburban Los Angeles jail three years ago.
On Tuesday, Lohan surrendered to the court to begin her 90-day jail sentence for violating probation in a 2007 DUI case. The actress, 24, arrived at the Beverly Hills courthouse in a motorcade to a crush of photographers and reporters. One fan threw confetti toward her as she walked up the steps. Another held a sign reading: “Free Lindsay.”
Damn, attending those alcohol education classes doesn’t seem so hard now, does it LiLo?
“Judge showed great compassion for ordering the cameras off” as Lohan was bring handcuffed and led out of the courtroom, said CNN Legal Analyst Debra Opri.
Lohan is expected to be booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California where she previously served 84 minutes in 2007. Despite the three-month sentence, legal experts say Lohan will probably serve between two weeks to a month due to the Sheriff’s Department’s long-standing policy of releasing nonviolent offenders early due to overcrowding.
Hope she has enjoyed her daily showers, cos she won’t be getting them in jail! On Monday, TMZ reported that she is only permitted showers every other day during her time at the Lynwood Correctional Facility, where she will have her own cell in a special area where solitary inmates are held.
She will spend up to 20 hours a day in the cell, will get two cold meals and one hot meal every day, and will be allowed to exercise three times a week.
