MJ has ‘earned $1bn” since his death

Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s estate has earned more than a billion dollars since the singer died, says Billboard magazine.

According to the magazine, Jackson”s album sales generated around 383 million dollars, while his movie ‘This Is It’ earned revenue of nearly 400 million dollars.

The King of Pop’s earnings also include profits from publishing rights, licensing and touring.

A new recording contract is estimated to have made 31 million dollars so far.

Although Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ never took off the ground but it earned 6.5 million dollars from tickets retained by fans as souvenirs and not refunded.

Merchandising raked in 5 million dollars, reports The BBC.

Jackson died at 50 June 25, 2009.
