Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets:For nearly two decades fans have been begging Luc Besson for a sequel to The Fifth Element. Unfortunately they are never, ever going to get one. They are, however, getting a very exciting new movie that looks like it could be its spirtual successor.
It’s called Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and it’s about time-traveling space police. At least that’s what we think it’s about. Besson hasn’t shown an official trailer yet (though some footage did blow away people at Comic-Con earlier this year), but he has doled out images and a poster, which you can see above and below.
Blade Runner 2: The previously untitled Blade Runner sequel has finally poked its head out from a shroud of mystery to reveal two things: the title and the behind-the-scenes pic you see below. The title is Blade Runner 2049, which is fun because it’s so effortlessly sci-fi but it also clues us in to the setting right off the bat.
Ridley Scott’s original movie took place in 2019, so now the sequel jumps forward 30 years. This allows director Denis Villeneuve to evolve himself from the exact world Scott already established into something presumably even more futuristic. Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling star in the film about a world where man and machine are nearly indistinguishable.
Professor X’s New Look: This week director James Mangold has been revealing tidbits about the final Wolverine movie, Logan. Yesterday we got a poster, and today we got a look at Professor X himself (Patrick Stewart) sporting a pretty formidable, “I am so done with all of this” look on his face.
