Noted television personality, and host of many award winning current affairs shows, Karan Thapar, is ending his 10-year-old relationship with Network18 and moving to Headlines Today. Highly placed sources in the industry confirmed the news with BestMediaInfo.com.
Thapar is currently hosting ‘The Last Word’ and ‘Devil’s Advocate’ on CNN-IBN and, if the sources are to be believed, he would be seen on Headlines Today from Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Thapar began his career in journalism with The Times in Lagos, Nigeria, and later worked as their Leader Writer on the Indian subcontinent till 1981. In 1982 he joined London Weekend Television where he worked for the next 11 years. He then moved to India where he worked with Hindustan Times Television Group, Home TV and United Television before setting up his own production house in August 2001 – Infotainment Television – which makes programmes for, amongst others, BBC, Doordarshan and Channel News Asia.
Thapar’s association with Network18 started in March 2004 with current affairs programme Tonight at 10 (later re-christened India Tonight) on CNBC.
