‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6 will dig into Belle’s backstory

Poor Belle (Emilie de Ravin) has been trapped in Pandora’s box under a sleeping curse since the end of “Once Upon a Time” Season 5. And to top it all off, she’s still pregnant!

Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to see everyone’s favorite Beauty again. Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis assured us at San Diego Comic-Con that Belle will be coming out of the box and reentering the world of Storybrooke very quickly in Season 6.

“As soon as the premiere episode, we’ll be digging into Belle’s story,” and Horowitz says, “She won’t be trapped for long.”

Another exciting bit of news for Belle fans is that we’ll be getting more info and story on Belle’s family when the show returns. “She comes out of the box. She’s back in Storybrooke,” Emilie de Ravin teases,” And you learn a lot about Belle and her family in the process.”

We’ve met Belle’s father, who usually has the best of intentions for his daughter but hasn’t exactly been a standup parent most of the time. Back in Season 4, we also briefly met Belle’s mother, who died tragically during an ogre attack. Other than that, Belle’s family history is a bit of a blank.

Will we delve deeper into her past with her mother and father? Or are there secret siblings to be discovered? One should never rule out a hidden familial connection on “Once Upon a Time.”

As for her relationship with her Beast, Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), we can only hope that they manage to mend their relationship in some way before Belle has their child. The kid will have it hard enough, being the daughter/son of the Dark One, we can’t imagine how much harder it would be growing up with estranged parents.

“Once Upon a Time” returns Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
