This Sunday’s ( Nov. 13) episode of “Quantico” was all about torture, but the real torture here is trying to figure out who is a terrorist and who is innocent on this show.
We’re seven episodes into the second season, and basically every single person on the Farm has given us a reason to believe that they’re actually an evil mastermind — but none more so than Dayana (Pearl Thusi).

From the jump, she’s been the unsuspecting underdog at the Farm: Quiet, fragile and totally not cut out for this job. Slowly but surely, though, she’s made moves that heighten our suspicion she’s part of the rogue AIC group that has taken over the financial district of New York City. Our latest look into her past (and present) only confirms those suspicions.
She all but confessed to her time as a torturer in Harare, and her self-inflicted burns after torturing Owen (Blair Underwood) made it clear that she perceives pain a little differently than most people. If she’s able to withstand scalding water with barely a flinch, who’s to say all that stabbing in front of Alex (Priyanka Chopra) wasn’t just a show?
The biggest giveaway that something might be off here was the timely rescue by Harry (Russell Tovey), Leon (Aarón Díaz) and Sebastien (David Lim).

Don’t we think it’s a little convenient that this rescue came immediately after Alex gave up Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor)? And this miraculous jailbreak of theirs just so happened to coincide with the end of Alex’s torture session? That’s either got to be the best timing in the world, or these guys are in on it and positioning themselves as Alex’s allies in order to take her little John McClane act out of the equation.
If that’s the case, we’ve got an even bigger problem on our hands: All of Alex’s potential allies inside the district just disappeared, and even Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) might not be an option anymore. After all, he got tapped by the AIC, didn’t he?
Our one shining beacon of hope in this situation is that Lydia seems to be playing for an entirely different team. If she’s got the drives and the terrorists are still hunting for them, then she’s not part of the AIC. She’s just not on Team Alex either.
“Quantico” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
