‘Riverdale’s’ huge Polly & Jason reveal makes us think the killer is a Cooper

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

If anything was going to bring more drama to “Riverdale,” it was bound to be the funeral of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines). At long last, Cheryl’s (Madelaine Petsch) brother was laid to rest — but that’s not what viewers will be talking about after “Heart of Darkness.”

Instead, it’s the shocking revelation about Jason’s relationship with Betty’s (Lili Reinhart) sister Polly that’ll leave you on the edge of your seat. It turns out while most of Riverdale thinks Jason did something to Polly, leading to her parents sending her away, the two were actually engaged. At least, that’s the story Cheryl and Jason’s elderly aunt says.

Quite the twist, given that Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) claims his daughter tried to take her own life. Why would she do that if she and Jason were secretly engaged? He was clearly selling off his belongings in an attempt to leave town. Was he taking Polly with him?

It’s these developments that have us raising an eyebrow at Betty’s parents. Clearly they know more than they’re letting on — especially given the revelation that it was Hal who destroyed Sheriff Keller’s (Martin Cummins) murder wall…

Could the idea that their daughter was planning to marry Jason have driven them to kill? They’re clearly not fans of the Blossom family, and willing to break the law to cover up the details of his death — but are they the perpetrators?

Between the secrets they’re keeping from Betty and the fact that Hal stole evidence from Keller, the Coopers have got to be the most likely suspects. For one reason or another, they wanted Jason out of Polly’s life permanently. There’s been blood between these families for generations — including one great grandfather killing another — and so now it’s just a matter of figuring out how far they’d actually go to keep Polly away from Jason… And if there’s anything else they aren’t telling Betty.

We know at least one of those answers will be revealed in the next episode, and we can’t wait to watch the sparks fly — we’re finally going to meet Polly!
