Saturday Night Live is ready to put their spin on the controversy surrounding Donald Trump‘s conversation with Billy Bush.
During the opening sketch, the late-night series had some fun with the first Vice Presidential debate.
“Donald Trump loves women. He respects women. He’s never said a single bad thing about women,” Mike Pence (played by Beck Bennett) shared. “I dare you to show me a single shred of evidence that proves otherwise.”
As it turned out, CNN’s Brooke Baldwin (Cecily Strong) interrupted with a special report detailing the leaked audio of Donald’s conversation with Billy.
In a matter of seconds, Donald (Alec Baldwin) appeared to share his side of the story.
“No, I would never [apologize]. What I am doing is apple-gizing to all the people who were offended by my statements,” Donald explained. “But more importantly, to the people who were turned on by them. I hear it’s really 50/50.”
He continued, “Come on, Brooke. I was trying to look cool. I mean, what normal, red-blooded American doesn’t want to impress the Billy Bush? Also, P.S., you have to admit it’s kind of funny that the only Bush that matters in this general election is Billy.”
Brooke later decided to ask Donald to share a message to women voters who may be watching.
“I would say this. Listen, women, if you give me a chance, I promise I can do a whole lot more than just grab it. I can also bop it, twist it, pull it. I’m tired of talking about me, okay?” he said. “We need to move forward and focus on the serious issues. I’d like to send condolences and prayers to everyone affected by Hurricane Matthew. I love the people of Florida and I hope that they stay safe.”
After the interview concluded, Brooke went live to Hillary Clinton‘s (Kate McKinnon) campaign headquarters where a little celebrating was going on.
“I’m sorry, Brooke. I’m sorry, didn’t see you, we were so busy preparing for the debate tomorrow,” she explained as “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang played in the background. “I’m really excited for this one.”
