‘Savages’ Clip: Blake Lively, John Travolta Talk Oliver Stone’s New Thriller (VIDEO)

“Cartel wars are going around as we speak, you read it all the time in the news,” star Demián Bichir says in the newest featurette from Oliver Stone’s “Savages.”

The movie, which hits theaters this Friday, illustrates Mexico’s vicious drug wars, with Blake Lively playing the kidnapped girlfriend of drug dealers Chon (Taylor Kitsch) and Ben (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

However, as the cast and crew of the film explains, Stone’s newest underworld expose is much more than just your standard kidnapping movie.

“When you hear the accounts of the real people that have been involved with the drug war, on both sides, it brings a seriousness to the story,” says Benicio Del Toro. (In the film, Del Toro portrays Lado, one of the kidnappers.)

In addition to its serious message, “Savages” boasts a number of famous faces — Lively, Kitsch, Johnson, Del Toro, Emile Hirsch, John Travolta, Salma Hayek and Demián Bichir.
