'Star Wars' and Marvel Buzz: Han Solo Movie Is Like a Western; X-Men Won't Join …

Variety has a lot of coverage of Disney’s movie empire this week, and that includes some focus on their acquired brands Star Wars and Marvel. Here’s some interesting buzz from interviews with the heads of both those properties:

Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy discussed the future of the Star Wars spinoff movies with Variety, acknowledging that they’re very interested in having a woman direct one of the installments and that virtual reality is a priority for the franchise. Marvel head Kevin Feige chatted with Variety on a number of topics, updating us on the issue of major character recasting (none for a while), why Brie Larsen is perfect for Captain Marvel (she can be powerful and relatable) and why Spider-Man needs to be in the MCU (he always existed in a world of superheroes).

But he also addresses whether Marvel will ever make a deal with Fox to crossover with X-Men characters. He says, “It’s an impossibility at this juncture,” recognizing that they have enough going on right now anyway. So, sorry, no, there won’t be any surprise cameo from Wolverine or any other mutants in Avengers: Infinity War
