Stephen Colbert takes a trip to ‘Broad City,’ circa 1776

On the heels of Hillary Clinton’s landmark acceptance speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Stephen Colbert went live one more time with “The Late Show.”

Instead of bringing his twin cousin Stephen Colbert back for another go-round, the host was joined by “Broad City’s” Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson on Thursday (July 28).

Calling via satellite, the two women dialed in from July 4, 1776. Glazer and Jacobson hilariously took on the roles of two female delegates from the 2nd Continental Congress: Josephine Henley and Abbatha Whitmore.

“Hello future Americans … or British subjects, if this does not work out,” says Jacobson. Glazer requested no spoilers from Colbert as she’s planning on binge watching “America” when it ends.

The real reason for the sketch was to highlight Clinton’s status as presidential nominee … and the fact it took this long for the country to get here.

“Well butter my bun, that is incredible! That is incredible!,” says Jacobson. “I’m going to celebrate by making a meal for my husband and then cleaning it up immediately!”

“You hear that, Ben Franklin?,” asks Glazer. “Women are on top … and not just your French whores!”

Yet, the excitement was short-lived. Colbert soon makes it clear to the two that it’s taken 240 years for a woman to be nominated to the highest office in the land. Glazer put it best by saying, “Get the butter out of the barn!”
