‘The Simpsons’ 600 FXX marathon cheat sheet: 10 peak viewing episodes

Every. Simpsons. Ever. It’s the biggest marathon in “Simpsons” history — even bigger than the last time FXX did this — and it’s practically impossible to sit through it all. With 600 episodes over 13 days, that’s a lot of Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Maggie to take in.

But if you can’t rededicate your entire life to rewatching “The Simpsons,” our handy guide can help. Screener has pored over hours and hours of the long-running animated series to pick out 10 can’t-miss episodes that you’re going to need to tune in for during the FXX marathon.

The “Simpsons” 600-episode marathon kicks off Thursday, Nov. 24, at noon 12:00 p.m. ET/PT on FXX and runs through 12 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

“Dancin’ Homer” – Season 2, episode 5

Thursday, Nov. 24 at 8:30 p.m. — An early “Simpsons” classic, Homer gets drunk and starts dancing at a baseball game and goes on to become a famous mascot in Capital City. Plus he gets to meet the legendary Capital City Goofball.

“Marge vs. the Monorail” – Season 4, episode 12

Friday, Nov. 25 at 11 p.m. — This episode mixes a memorable song, a guest star (Leonard Nimoy) and an adventure for Marge! Plus it was written by none other than Conan O’Brien. That’s a winning combination if ever there was one.

“I Love Lisa” – Season 4, episode 15

Saturday, Nov. 26 at 12:30 a.m. — We choo-choo-choose this episode for how downright adorable it is. Maybe Ralph Wiggum isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but “I Love Lisa” is the exact moment he won over “Simpsons” fans everywhere.

“Boy-Scoutz ‘n the Hood” – Season 5, episode 8

Saturday, Nov. 26 at 8 a.m. — A wild sugar bender, complete with a musical number, takes Bart and Milhouse all over Springfield… But when Bart awakes from his blackout, he realizes he’s accidentally joined the Boy Scouts.

“Itchy & Scratchy Land” – Season 6, episode 4

Saturday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. — A perfect family vacation gone horribly wrong. One misguided stink bomb from Bart lands him in theme park jail, while robotic characters in the park go rogue. It’s about what you’d expect from an amusement park based on that cartoon.

“Who Shot Mr. Burns? Parts 1 & 2” – Season 6, episode 25/Season 7, episode 1

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 3:30 a.m. — It was the cliffhanger event that had fans on the edge of their seats for months. Someone tried to assassinate Mr. Burns, but who was it? If you don’t remember the resolution of that story, you’re not going to want to miss this.

“Radioactive Man” – Season 7, episode 2

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 a.m. — Hollywood comes to Springfield! A major movie studio wants to make a “Radioactive Man” movie — but first they need to cast their local Fallout Boy.

“Lisa the Vegetarian” – Season 7, episode 5

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 6 a.m. — Lisa makes a major life change, giving up meat forever. While her friends and family may not respect her decision, special guests Paul and Linda McCartney sure do!

“You Only Move Twice” – Season 8, episode 2

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. — Homer gets a new job from a James Bond villain. What’s not to love? This episode moves the Simpsons out of Springfield, temporarily… But they soon learn their amazing new town isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 8:30 p.m. — Is there a chili too hot for Homer to eat? That’s the question of the day in this installment. Of course, when he tastes a taste of the Guatemalan Insanity Pepper, nothing will ever be the same.
