‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 trailer left us with two big questions
“The Vampire Diaries” is teasing the beginning of the end with its Season 8 trailer, and we’re basically freaking out.
Our first look at Season 8 gives us everything we’d typically want to see: Blood, brothers, bites and, of course, some sexy smooching.
However, if you take a closer look, there are a couple things in this short, 20-second promo that seem to dropping hints about the new season that we haven’t seen before. Being the superfans that we are at Zap2it, we decided to take a frame-by-frame look at the new trailer to see what we could see.

First up, let’s talk about this macabre murder factory that surely has something to do with “The Vampire Dairies” latest villain, Sybill (Nathalie Kelley).
We seem to be back in that warehouse where Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) had a few dozen bodies strung up like piñatas. However, look closely and you’ll notice that something very big has changed. There are no longer corpses hanging on hooks, but what appear to be hollowed out husks and limbs. Has something (or someone) been snacking on them?
We also see some poor soul getting dropped into an ominous tank of water (or blood), and then almost directly after, we catch a peek of a bloody, female figure emerging from what we can only assume is that same tank.
Whatever this woman/monster is, Damon and Enzo seem to be supplying her with a fresh supply of human bodies. After spending decades locked away in a vault, maybe she’s eating them to get back to her former glamorous self?

Our next question has to do with the new nanny in town, Seline (Kristen Gutoskie).
We’d previously pegged all our hopes and dreams for Alaric’s (Matt Davis) happily ever after on this girl as both a potential wife for Alaric and step-mom for his twin girls. Unfortunately, the Season 8 trailer is intent on dashing those dreams.
In a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ shot, the trailer shows a mysterious arm reaching around Seline to slash her throat with a knife. Unless she manages to evade at the last minute (or if she’s ingested vampire blood recently) we’re going to have a seriously dead nanny on our hands sooner rather than later.
We know Mystic Falls is a dangerous place to live, especially for new characters, but Seline can’t be biting the dust this quickly, can she?
“The Vampire Diaries” returns Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
