The ‘Will & Grace’ reunion is real … real political

It’s been 10 years since “Will & Grace” ended in 2006, but for a short moment, the show is back and funny as ever. The cast reunited to film a new 10-minute scene set within the world of the show, taking on the 2016 election and stuffing as many pop cultural references in as possible.

The clip takes a hard aim at Republican nominee Donald Trump, though Democrat Hillary Clinton doesn’t get away unscathed. The through line is simple: Will (Eric McCormack) and Grace (Debra Messing) try to convince Jack (Sean Hayes) to vote for Hillary, while Karen (Megan Mullally) is stumping for Trump.

In doing so, they make jokes about “Hamilton,” “Fifty Shades of Grey” and the great Brangelina divorce of 2016, among many other current happenings in the world of entertainment.

In the end though, there’s only thing thing that’s going to win Jack’s vote and that’s Katy Perry. Better luck next time, Karen. There’s no way Katy is voting for Trump.

While it’s been a decade since “Will & Grace” was on the air, the chemistry between the cast members is still very clear and might make fans yearn for another reunion. Then again, some of the language they use would surely not fly on network TV, so perhaps they should talk to Netflix.
