With only 10 episodes left — and six months before they premiere — Screener wants to take a look back through the twisty mysteries and tangled lives of everyone’s favorite “Pretty Little Liars.” So join us daily as we revisit Rosewood of old. The entire show is streaming on Netflix if you’d like to watch the episodes for yourselves.
Up next: Season 1, episode 7, “The Homecoming Hangover,” aired July 20, 2010.
What we thought then …
After dropping Emily (Shay Mitchell) at the hospital, Toby (Keegan Allen) skipped town and the show would have us all believe he died in a motorcycle accident — so the “A” tag with the town population meant Toby, not Emily.
The girls learn from Toby’s therapy file that his relationship with Jenna (Tammin Sursok) was more than step-sisterly, and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) also makes the comment that Jenna didn’t have much of a choice in her sexual relationship with Toby.
What we know now …
Toby is actually just a big ol’ teddy bear who cares for Emily, and he actually wasn’t the instigator in the relationship with Jenna — she basically blackmailed him into it because she is gross.
Hindsight hilarity …
Spencer is being kind of intense about Toby being “A,” which is both hilarious because they end up together and also a nice foreshadowing to the (many, many) other times Spencer goes a little overboard with her intensity and enthusiasm for her theories.

Creepiest dude award goes to …
Unfortunately, gotta give it to Sean (Chuck Hittinger). He has every right to be mad about Hanna (Ashley Benson) ditching him at homecoming, but sending Aria flowers was uncool. He’s also a major killjoy when Hanna tries to show him the funny YouTube videos Lucas (Brendan Robinson) showed her.
Byron (Chad Lowe) is also still being gross towards his wife, Ella (Holly Marie Combs), considering it was he who had an affair and hid it and used their daughter to cover his tracks and all that. So Ella leaves, which — good for you, Ella.
