The Tyra Banks Show — once one of television’s most-watched gabfests — now collects dust as part of daytime history.

That’s a fact that hasn’t stopped its supermodel namesake from being hauled into court over an episode that rocked the show’s final season.

Emmy-winning entertainment titan Tyra Banks has been named in a $3 million lawsuit filed against the producers of her talk show after a then 15-year-old sex addict appeared on the show without her mother’s consent.

In a suit filed in federal court this month and obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Beverly McClendon, a licensed social worker from Georgia, claims that in Nov. 2009, her daughter, Jewel Ciera Washington, was flown to New York City for a paid appearance on Tyra, without parental consent.

Last October, Jewel — a self-professed nympho — responded to an open call on the show’s website in search of sex addicts. A short time later, she was contacted by Tyra Show producers, who invited her to appear as a guest. The teen was then flown alone to the Big Apple, unbeknownst to her mother.

By the time McClendon learned of Jewel’s big daytime debut — which featured a lengthy discussion about the young woman’s apetite for the opposite sex — it was too late. The government employee argues that producers should have alerted her to their plans to feature the girl on the program and violated Georgia state labour laws by failing to do so. McClendon is also concerned about her the safety of her sexually-indiscriminate daughter.

“This show was undoubtedly watched by sexual deviants, perverts and pedophiles alike,” McClendon complains in her suit.

She is suing on the grounds of negligence and is asking for an injunction against airing any future repeats of the episode.

Color us confused, but shouldn’t this woman be more concerned with getting her kid the help she desperately needs than filing frivilious lawsuits?
