Watch the Trailer for the True Adenture Movie 'The Lost City of Z'

The Lost City of Z is one of those movies that we’ve followed for so long and can’t wait to at least see a glimpse of a finished product. Today brings that glimpse in the form of the first trailer for the feature, which was once to star Benedict Cumberbatch but now is led instead by Charlie Hunnam. First, here’s some background on the movie and its true story:

What is the city of Z?

Z was the name given to a lost South American city thought to be El Dorado, the mythical “city of gold.”

Who does Hunnam portray?

Hunnam plays real-life British explorer Percy Fawcett, who coined the name of the city of Z, which he went in search of in 1925.

Did he find it?

This isn’t exactly a spoiler since it’s a true story, but it’s unknown if he ever reached his destination because he was last seen heading in the direction of a dangroud indigineous Amazonian tribe and then was never seen nor heard from again.

Who last saw him?

The Kalapo tribe, which told of Fawcett’s apparent fate to author David Grann, whose book of the same name is the basis for the movie.

Who else is in the movie?

As you’ll see in the trailer below, there’s a bearded Robert Pattinson as an army corporal who was part of Fawcett’s expedition, while current Spider-Man Tom Holland is Fawcett’s eldest son, who also disappeared along with them. Sienna Miller also co-stars as Fawcett’s wife.

When does the movie come out?

Following its debut at the New York Film Festival in October, where it was well-received, The Lost City of Z officially opens wide on April 21, 2017.
