Halle Berry‘s sense of style has come a long way. “Someone just showed me a photo from the ’80s, in which I was wearing a polka-dot and flower-print suit with puffy sleeves,” she says in the November issue of InStyle. “At the time I thought, ‘Oh I am stylin’!’ But no …”
Now, the stunning star gets by on some solid fashion advice — “Don’t be a slave to trends,” she shares — and keeps her closet packed with style staples.
“Levi’s 501 button-fly jeans still do it right,” she says. “They have some of the best washes, and the fit is classic and good for my size butt. Plus, they are not crazy money.”
Also close at hand? “Gucci black patent leather pumps with really pointy toes,” she says. “I’m glad pointy toes are coming back, because that’s my jam!”
Simple jewelry is a must, too. “I like Ippolita designs and have pieces with energy stones such as tiger’s eye, rose quartz and jade,” she reveals. “And, of course, I love my emerald engagement ring!”
Such timeless pieces make great keepsakes — and that’s exactly how Berry intends to treat them.
“I archive a lot of my clothes and have them wrapped up in boxes. I call them ‘little tombs’ and keep them in a storage space in the Valley,” she shares. “I would never get rid of the dress I wore on the night I won my Oscar. When I die, someone can have it, but not a minute before!”
