Anderson’s The New Oprah!

On Thursday, CNN’s Anderson Cooper confirmed that he has inked a deal to host a talk show on daytime TV.

The respected journalist cut his teeth as a frequent fill-in on Live! with Regis & Kelly, a 60 Minutes correspondent, and most notably as host of the cable news network’s hit program Anderson Cooper 360. Now the silver-haired anchor has been tapped through a deal with Telepictures Productions and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution to host a one-hour weekday series, which will air live from New York and feature a studio audience.

“Over the course of the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of daytime programs,” Cooper remarked in a new release sealing the deal on Thursday. “It’s fun and interesting to work in daytime television. The format is unique and you can really go in-depth on a wide range of fascinating and compelling stories. With this new program I hope to relay important information and relate to people and the audience in a completely different way. It’s an exciting opportunity to show another side of myself and create something worthwhile and special in daytime.”

Cooper is expected to retain his post at CNN, in spite of his newest endeavour. According to Media Bistro, the troubled left-leaning network recently extended its contract with Anderson.

The as-yet-titled talk show is expected to premiere next fall.
