Halloween was more money-spinning than spooky for Redbook’s December covergirl Christina Aguilera. The pint-sized powerhouse earned $1 million for a performance at a private party in a posh SoCal neighborhood.

The “Beautiful” singer scrapped plans to go partying and instead sang and danced at a party hosted by investment banker Charles Brandes. Xtina was booked by the mega-loaded Brandes, who throws an annual super expensive Halloween bash at his San Diego estate. Aguilera was on stage for an hour and Brandes also paid for her hair, make-up and travel costs.

In related news, in the Dec. issue of Redbook Magazine, Aguilera opens up about her divorce and what gets her out of bed in the morning as the “Fighter” hitmaker prepares for her acting debut in the ensemble movie musical Burlesque, co-starring Oscar winner Cher. Xtina was snapped by celebrity shutterbug Ruven Afanador for the mag’s year-end issue, on newsstands Nov. 16.

“Every woman has the ability or the drive to do it all and have it all. Men aren’t as strong and capable as we are,” the soon-to-be divorcee says of balancing work and motherhood. “We’re machines. My life is cyclical. First it’s album time, then it’s touring time. I go through phases, so we roll with the punches. I’m not a 9-to-5 woman who has the same kind of lifestyle for years on end. I couldn’t do it. I need the spontaneity, that thrill of change. That’s part of how I get inspired. You know, this is what the cards have in store for Max. We put it into his brain early on that he’s a traveling guy. He adapts well when we go from hotel to hotel.”

Christina’s close pal Nicole Richie is a key member of the singer’s support system — a role that includes helping the superstar get through her recent split with hubby Jordan Bratman and praising her to Redbook chatterboxes!

“It’s very clear through Christina’s music what a strong woman she is. But to watch her as a mother only skyrockets the respect I have for her. She is the woman who’s recording until 4 a.m. and up at 7 to be with her son. Her dedication to Max is incredible.”
