Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley is recovering in a Japanese hospital after three people assaulted him in a local bar this week.
The band made the announcement its website Friday. The bandmates didn’t dish any additional deets on Whibley’s injuries or the location of the assault, but tipsters tell E! News that the rock singer is “unfortunately still in the hospital” and his friends are “waiting for results and hoping for the best.”
Sum 41 had been scheduled to perform at the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka and Tokyo this weekend.
The brawl is currently under investigation by local officials.
Whibley is in the final stages of a divorce from “Girlfriend” singer Avril Lavigne.
