It seems everything Oprah touches doesn’t turn to gold after all. The Queen of Talk’s cable TV network, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, is struggling to pull in the viewers, according a New York Times report published this week. Figures from Nielsen show ratings are down 10 percent from Discovery Health, the network OWN replaced in January.

Here are the deets: Just 135,000 are viewing Winfrey’s channel at any one time and only 45,000 of these are the target demographic of women aged 25 to 54. Christina Norman, Chief Executive of OWN, say the channel is still aiming to attract 50 to 60 million viewers each month and hopes to do so with the introduction of reality shows featuring Rosie O’Donnell, Shania Twain, and Duchess Sarah Ferguson later this year.
The network currently averages 42 million viewers monthly.
