The New York City medical examiner’s office said that initial results of Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s autopsy are inconclusive, meaning the actor’s drug-riddled body will undergo more testing.

Julie Bolcer, spokeswoman for medical examiners’ office, said that no timetable has been established Wednesday as to when the results will be in. (Traditionally, toxicology and tissue tests are implemented in such a situation.)

Law enforcement authorities continue to look at the case as a drug overdose, as the Oscar winner had a needle in his arm when his body was found, and 50 envelopes of the contraband were strewn throughout his Greenwich Village abode.

As we previously reported, authorities on Tuesday said that testing on the heroin recovered from Hoffman’s apartment revealed no traces of the substance fentanyl, quieting speculation the actor might have been felled by a tainted dose linked to more than 20 deaths on the East Coast.
