Love it or hate it, work on the “Prometheus” sequel, last year’s divisive “Alien” prequel (spin-off?), is moving ahead.
According to Variety, screenwriter Jack Palgen is the man for job. The writer is in talks to pen the sequel, which is said to be more of a stand-alone movie rather than something tied to the Ripley-led “Alien” series of films. Palgen wrote “Transcendence,” a much-buzzed-about sci-fi/thriller starring Johnny Depp that hits theaters in April 2014.
The unnamed “Prometheus” sequel will be produced by Ridley Scott and Fox (just like the first), and rumor has it that Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender will be back. This is sounding suspiciously like the setup that got us from “Aliens” to “Alien 3,” but we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
Expect “Prometheus 2” (or whatever it ends up being called) in theaters in 2015 or 2016.
