Australian actress Radha Mitchell has opened up about how she was asked to take a dip in the mythic but also extremely polluted Ganges as part of her role in a new movie ‘The Waiting City’.
“There really were pigs running around where we were shooting the scene. And snakes swimming in the water,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.
“But there were also people washing their clothes and bathing. It was sublime and also horrific the two things at once,” she added.
When it came to actually putting her head under the water, however, the occupational health and safety experts put their foot down.
The final shot was filmed in a specially constructed tank.
