Put on your Broadway shoes and shake your bon-bon, Ricky Martin’s on his way back to the theater.
The Grammy winner — who publicly confirmed speculation that he is gay earlier this year — will star in the first Broadway revival of Evita since the Andrew Lloyd Webber production first hit the Great White Way in 1979, Broadway World reported Wednesday.
Ricky — who first appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables in 1999 — has been cast as Che. He’ll take the stage alongside Argentinean actress Elena Roger, who’s making her New York theater debut in the title role as Eva Peron.
“I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to perform on many of the world’s largest concert stages, but I’ve never lost my love for the intimacy of the theater. I’m delighted to know that after I’ve had the chance to share new music and tour over the coming year, that I will then return once again to Broadway,” Ricky beams.
Evita is set to debut in Spring 2012.
