De Niro will receive the Cecil B. DeMille honor at the Golden Globes on Jan.16, actor Kevin Spacey announced at a news conference on Tuesday. The Goodfellas icon is being celebrated for his contributions as a director, producer, and as a co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, which was created to help revitalize Lower Manhattan after the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.

De Niro has been nominated for eight Golden Globe Awards in both the comedy and drama categories, winning once for Raging Bull. He also has won two Academy Awards (for Raging Bull and The Godfather: Part II) as well as a Kennedy Center Honor.

Previous DeMille winners include Barbra Streisand, Al Pacino, Michael Douglas, Steven Spielberg, the 2010 recipient Martin Scorsese, De Niro’s longtime friend and director.
