Spider-Man has one of the coolest, most iconic designs of all time. But when Steve Ditko and Stan Lee created the character fifty years ago, they had no idea he would become a touchstone for generations of fans. These days, you can see Spidey’s red-and-blue tights on everything, from comic books to shirts to this week’s blockbuster release. And it’s not just limited to Peter Parker: the entire cast of characters in the “Spider-Man” soap opera have become bona fide pop culture superstars — even Aunt May!
