Walt Disney Pictures has picked up Chrome and Paint , to be directed and produced by Ice Cube, says The Hollywood Reporter .

The film is described as a “gritty car culture project” and gets its name from a song on Cube’s 2006 album “Laugh Now, Cry Later.”

Summit Entertainment has picked up the U.S. distribution rights for the Rob Cohen-directed I, Alex Cross , the studio confirmed today.

The film is a reboot of the franchise based on the best-selling James Patterson novels. The series of novels, begun in 1993 with “Along Came a Spider,” features a forensic psychologist named Alex Cross (Tyler Perry).
