E! Online reports that “Sunny” star/creator Glenn Howerton (aka Dennis Reynolds) is set to guest star on Season 2 of FOX comedy “The Mindy Project.” Howerton will bring to life the recurring role of Cliff Gilbert, who’s described as “a handsome mild-mannered attorney” who winds up wooing Mindy (Mindy Kaling) after a requisite meet-cute in their office building. Howerton will pop up first in the season’s fourth episode.

Though Mindy and her minister boyfriend Casey (Anders Holm) return from Haiti very much together (and even plan an impromptu wedding!), that possible wedded bliss doesn’t last very long. At a late July set tour, Kaling told reporters that “Mindy gets to be single again pretty soon.”

Season 2 of “The Mindy Project” premieres Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
