To promote movies on mobile platform; kicks off SMS promotions with upcoming ‘My Friend Pinto’

SMS GupShup, India’s largest social network and group messaging provider has joined hands with UTV Motion Pictures, India’s leading film studio to promote their upcoming releases in the country on mobile. With a mobile community that has already garnered 65,000 members, UTV Motion Pictures plans to aggressively build a fan community through mobile marketing. SMS GupShup will help engage fans by sharing movie trivia, star trivia as well as running promotions/ contests and reach out to a broader fan base across the country.
The skewed Mobile-Internet traffic is completely changing the way that marketing and advertising campaigns are being developed. SMS GupShup will provide UTV Motion Pictures with not just access to Tier 1 cities, but Tier 2 & 3 towns of the country to enable a wide reach for their movies’ promotions. The mobile campaigns are based on an opt-in or expressed user actions like browsing or using an application.

My Friend Pinto, a comedy starring Prateik & Kalki Koechlin releases nationwide on the 14th of this month. The cast and crew of My Friend Pinto is currently travelling to major cities across India including Ahmedabad, New Delhi and Kolkata to promote the film. Sms Gupshup contest winners in these cities will get to meet Prateik and Kalki as part of the films promotion.
