New Movie Releases DVD

The book that helped make unstable reality personality Danielle Staub one of the most hated women in the Garden State may be getting the television treatment.

Backstory: During the first season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey, series stars Dina, Caroline, Jacqueline, and Teresa learned of an out-of-print 1996 book — titled Cop Without A Bridge – that detailed the criminal activity of the castmate they loved to hate. Not only did this book dish the deets on Danielle’s past as a high-priced call girl with a drug dealer BF named Beverly Merill — it ignited the now infamous table-flipping finale of Jersey Housewives Season One and spawned one of the funniest catchphrases known to man: “Prostitution Whore!”

In news that will surely leave the sex tape-starring socialite having a cow, a pair two veteran Hollywood crime writers want turn Cop Without a Badge into the next great television drama. In fact, we hear a pilot is being shopped around to several TV networks as we speak.

The New York Post writes:

“Several studios have apparently expressed interest in The title character of The book — former con man Kevin Maher, who was recruited out of prison to become an undercover informant for The New York Police Department and FBI. Danielle — then living under her birth name, Beverly Merrill — was Maher’s girlfriend during those years, The book says. He met her in Miami while she was out on bail on drug and kidnapping charges, according to The book.”
