This Sunday (July 31) is an auspicious day because it not only marks Harry Potter’s birthday but also author J.K Rowling’s.

Any “Harry Potter” book fan worth their salt knows that Harry’s birthday is typically a day for magical shenanigans and life-changing events to occur, but it occurred to us that movie fans might not be quite as amped for July 31, considering most of the films omit the date entirely.

That got us thinking, what better way to ring in J.K’s birthday (and the release of the novelization of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) than filling you in on all the greatest “Harry Potter” book quotes that should have been in the movies.

1. Harry’s sassy response to Snape
