The “Scary Movie” franchise is known for risqué parodies of the latest horror flicks, laden with juvenile humor and plenty of celebrity cameos.
The latter is what’s generating the most buzz for “Scary Movie 5.” Legally troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan and celebrity “adonis” Charlie Sheen scored roles in the latest installment in the franchise. While “SM5” is old-hat for Sheen (he appeared in “Scary Movie 3” and “Scary Movie 4”), Lohan joins the ever-growing roster of pop-culture personalities who have made appearances in the comedies.
With that in mind, let’s run down the list of stars who’ve taken a stab at a “Scary Movie.” From George Carlin to Dr. Phil, here’s a look at the franchise’s ridiculous celebrity cameos:
-
Carmen Electra
Carmen Electra first cameo in the “Scary Movie” series spoofed another famous cameo: Drew Barrymore’s in “Scream.” It didn’t end well for Drew, and it doesn’t end well for Ms. Electra.
-
James Van Der Beek
James Van Der Beek popped up in the first “Scary Movie” as his TV character Dawson after hearing the infamous words: “I don’t wanna wait…”
-
James Woods
Actor James Woods helped the “Scary Movie” crew spoof “The Exorcist” when he played a quirky priest in the franchise’s first installment.
-
Tim Curry
In “Scary Movie 2,” Tim Curry and Anna Farris reenacted the seduction scene from “What Lies Beneath.” We use the word “reenacted” loosely.
-
Charlie Sheen
“Scary Movie 5” is not Charlie Sheen’s first stab at the franchise. The actor made his “SM” debut in the third installment.
-
Simon Cowell
Back when “American Idol” was fresh and exciting, its resident sourpuss, Simon Cowell, popped up in “Scary Movie 3” for a scene that spoofed Eminem’s “8 Mile.” He met a dreadful, just dreadful, end.
-
Jeremy Piven
Jeremy Piven was minus his “Entourage” when he played a news reporter who unknowingly announced the existence of a killer videotape in “Scary Movie 3.”
-
Denise Richards and Camryn Manheim
Remember that time Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen were married? Yeah, that happened. And Richards’s cameo in “Scary Movie 3” is proof! The then-married couple shared this ridiculous scene together. Actress Camryn Manheim (“Ally McBeal”) also made an appearance.
-
Queen Latifah
Queen Latifah plays Aunt Shaneequa in “Scary Movie 3.” One of her most memorable moments involves her getting into a fight with the woman in a “The Ring”-spoofed tape.
-
George Carlin
Late comedy legend George Carlin made an appearance in “Scary Movie 3.” The comedian spoofed “The Matrix Reloaded,” playing a much funnier version of that film’s “Architect.”
-
Macy Gray, Methodman, and Redman
Singer Macy Gray, and rappers Methodman and Redman, all show up as part of a “crew” ready to take care of the alien living in the cornfields around Tom’s (Charlie Sheen) house in “Scary Movie 3.”
-
Pam Anderson and Jenny McCarthy
Celebrity blondes Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson are the first to die at the hands of the murderous videotape in “Scary Movie 3.”
-
Leslie Nielson
Leslie Nielson (“Airplane”) brought his off-beat comedic timing to “Scary Movie 3,” when he played a not-all-there president.
-
Leslie Nielson… Again
…And he reprised his wacky role for “Scary Movie 4”!
-
Dr. Phil and Shaq
Dr. Phil and Shaq shared a scene together at the beginning of “Scary Movie 4” as two of “Saw” villain Jigsaw’s prisoners — naturally.
-
Lil’ Jon
Rapper Lil’ Jon rolled up into a scene in “Scary Movie 4.” WHAT?!
-
Fabolous
Fabolos, a rapper we haven’t heard from in a while, appeared as a gun-toting gangster in a scene from “Scary Movie 4.”
-
James Earl Jones
James Earl Jones lent his voice to the “Scary Movie” franchise in the fourth installment. He narrated parts of the film in his unmistakable tone, and, at the end of the movie, was promptly struck by a bus.
-
Cloris Leachman
Funny lady Cloris Leachman took on “The Grudge” in “Scary Movie 4.” She played the semi-catatonic elderly woman who Anna Faris’s character, Cindy, was tasked with caring for.
-
Bridgette Marquardt, Kendra Wilkinson, and Holly Madison
Former Playmates and “Girls Next Door” stars Bridgette Marquardt, Kendra Wilkinsin, and Holly Madison made an appearance in Charlie Sheen’s bed in “Scary Movie 4.”
-
Bill Pullman
Bill Pullman popped up in “Scary Movie 4” as the village leader in a scene that poked fun at M. Night Shymalan’s “The Village.”
-
Carmen Electra… Again
Carmen Electra made another appearance in “Scary Movie 4” when she spoofed “The Village.” She played a blind woman who gave church-goers a little bit more than they asked for.
