4 crazy theories about Mon-El, Lena Luthor & more ‘Supergirl’ newcomers

Now that we’ve gotten a pretty comprehensive look at “Supergirl’s” second season, it’s time to start speculating about the new additions to Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) world.

National City has seen a handful of new faces, some nice, some naughty and some downright murderous. However, if The CW has taught us one thing with the many twists and turns of its superhero shows, it’s that first impressions aren’t always to be trusted.

In that avenue of thought, we’ve got some pretty wild theories about these new characters, and how they will defy expectations in “Supergirl’s” new season.

Mon-El is evil

Seriously, do they really expect us to believe Mon-El isn’t bad news when they keep dressing him in head to toe black? Did we learn nothing from Jay Garrick (a.k.a Zoom) on “The Flash?” Granted, we’ve already got one wolf in sheep’s clothing with Miss Martian, but we’re going to keep a close eye on Mon-El just in case. If he turns around and stabs Kara in the back, we won’t be surprised, but we will be super disappointed.

Miss Martian is still alive

Finding out that M’gann (Sharon Leal) is actually a White Martian in disguise is kind of heartbreaking, but we’re not giving up hope on this canon comic book character yet. If the fake M’gann’s story about smuggling a Green Martian survivor off the planet is true, Miss Martian could still be alive and maybe even a hostage of her shapeshifting doppelganger.

Snapper Carr sees right through Kara

It was always a bit of a stretch that Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) never figured out that her assistant was actually “Supergirl,” and Snapper Carr (Ian Gomez) seems to be an even quicker study than his previous boss if that’s possible. We’re willing to bet that Snapper will catch on to Kara’s little Supergirl source act pretty quickly.

Lena Luthor will be Kara’s best ally

Don’t judge a book by its cover or a girl by her last name. Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) seems to just exude evil intent sometimes, but we’re tentatively predicting that she’ll be more of an ally to Kara than a villain. In her own Machiavellian way, Lena seems to truly be cut from a different cloth than her psycho brother, and we hope she doesn’t prove us wrong by going after Supergirl at the first possible opportunity.

“Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
