‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Horror Film: Classic Trailer Recut (VIDEO)

Today in unsettling Internet video news, the trailer for “Mrs. Doubtfire “has been recut as a horror film. (Because, why not?)

Besides some crafty editing and the addition of a creepy score, the only real difference between the original clip and this one is the lack of Aerosmith’s “Dude (Looks Like a Lady).”

While Robin Williams’ “new” Mrs. Doubtfire is no Buffalo Bill, the trailer is certainly sinister, making the original film look about as terrifying as Williams’ 2002 psychological thriller, “One Hour Photo.”

This isn’t the first time a children’s movie has been recut as a scary flick. A few years ago a horror “Mary Poppins” trailer, entitled “Scary Mary,” showed us all that there’s just something off about a babysitter who travels by umbrella.

You can check out the horror “Mrs. Doubtfire” video above. And you prefer the funnier version of Robin Williams, don’t worry: His next film, “The Wedding,” is a comedy and hits theaters this October.

    The butler to end all butlers, Herbert Arthur Runcible Cadbury (Jonathan Hyde) was at Macaulay Culkin’s beck and call — and his best companion — in 1994’s “Richie Rich.”

  • Dobby, “Harry Potter”

    Dobby first appeared in the second film, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” as the house elf to Potter’s nemesis, Draco Malfoy. Although the squeaky-voiced creature almost got the boy wizard killed on several occasions, his intentions were always heroic: to “save Harry Potter and his friends.” Sniff.

  • Pagoda, “The Royal Tenenbaums”

    Kumar Pallana played Gene Hackman’s accomplice, long-time butler and occasional stabber in Wes Anderson’s 2001 quirky comedy, “The Royal Tenenbaum.”

  • Alfred, “Batman”

    Alfred — the consummate butler — had been portrayed by British actor Michael Gough in the Tim Burton/Joel Shumacher Batman franchise. Michael Caine has of course taken up the reins and reprised the role for Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.

  • Andie, “The Devil Wears Prada”

    Andie (Anne Hathaway) personified the assistant-as-slave plight in 2006’s “The Devil Wears Prada.”

  • Mrs. Doubtfire, “Mrs. Doubtfire”

    Robin William’s performance in 1993’s “Mrs. Doubtfire” paved the way for cross-dressing nannies everywhere. And coined famous phrase “a run by fruiting.”

  • Lovejoy, “Titanic”

    David Warner played perhaps the most unsavory character aboard James Cameron’s “Titanic.” As Cal’s (Billy Zane) “undertaker of a man servant,” Lovejoy was busy making the star-crossed couple’s final days very unpleasant.

  • Cedrick, “Home Alone 2”

    However brief, Rob Schneider’s appearance as Cedrick in 1992’s “Home Alone 2” was quite memorable. He sure earned that bubble gum tip!

  • Smithers, “The Simpsons Movie”

    Smithers has been Mr. Burns’s trusty assistant, man servant, companion, and dare I say… love of his life, long before “The Simpsons Movie” ever came into existence. But, of course, everyone know that.

  • Lurch, “The Addams Family”

    Imagine where servants would have been without Lurch’s famous catch phrase, “you rang?”

  • C-3PO, “Star Wars”

    The most obedient drone in all the galaxy, C-3PO has appeared in both the original “Star Wars” trilogy and its prequels, aiding in “over six million forms of communication.”

  • Coleman, “Trading Places”

    A butler success story! Coleman (Denholm Elliott) turns his life wages into a life of luxury in 1983’s “Trading Places.”

  • Mrs. Featherbottom, “Arrested Development”

    While David Cross’s cross dressing creation has only ever seen the silver screen, that may all change with the upcoming “Arrested Development” movie.
