'Bad Santa 2' Trailer: Billy Bob Thornton Is Back to Ruin Christmas

It’s been 13 years since Bad Santa weaseled its raunchy self into becoming a bit of a holiday staple, and because we enjoy a miserable Billy Bob Thornton torturing kids with foul language as they innocently ask for presents while sitting atop Santa’s lap, there’s a whole new installment arriving in theaters this November 23.

Based on these first trailers (one green band and one red band), Thornton and his cohorts look up to their old tricks, not to mention the fact that they seem even filthier than ever.

The best part of Bad Santa is watching a miserably hungover Thornton (as Willie) interact with kids who are simply excited to tell Santa what they want for Christmas. That’s also the best part of this new trailer, which reintroduces us to the main players — Thornton, Tony Cox and a creepy Brett Kelly all return — as well as new cast members including Christina Hendricks and what appears to be a very amusing turn by Kathy Bates. 

Will Bad Santa 2 conjure up some of that same holiday magic afforded to the original, which grossed a little over $76 million in the states? What do you think?

Here’s the official synopsis:

BAD SANTA 2 returns Academy Award®-winner BILLY BOB THORNTON to the screen as America’s favorite anti-hero, Willie Soke. Fueled by cheap whiskey, greed and hatred, Willie teams up once again with his angry little sidekick, Marcus (TONY COX), to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. Along for the ride is ‘the kid’ – chubby and cheery Thurman Merman (BRETT KELLY), a 250-pound ray of sunshine who brings out Willie’s sliver of humanity.

Mommy issues arise when the pair are joined by Academy Award®, Golden Globe and Emmy-winner KATHY BATES, as Willie’s horror story of a mother, Sunny Soke. A super butch super bitch, Sunny raises the bar for the gang’s ambitions, while somehow lowering the standards of criminal behavior. Willie is further burdened by lusting after the curvaceous and prim Diane, played by Emmy Award-nominee CHRISTINA HENDRICKS, the charity director with a heart of gold and libido of steel.
