Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has introduced us movies in a wide range of genres, from the motion and sci-fi of Star Wars to the comedian homicide thriller of Knives Out, to the neo-noir thriller model of Brick.
But one kind of movie you will not see from him is a horror, apparently. While talking throughout a Film Independent-hosted webinar, he defined precisely why a scary film is not on the playing cards for him.
“To be honest, it’s a genre that, because my family was really religious when I was growing up, I wasn’t allowed to see a lot of intense stuff,” he mentioned. “It’s not a genre I have a grounding in emotionally. It’s not something that, for whatever reason, has drawn me,” he defined.

– Star Wars’ Rian Johnson offers an replace about his new trilogy
That’s to not say he would not respect the style, as he added that he has been impressed by horrors together with Alien and Under the Skin, however he will not be bringing his personal horror creation to our cinema screens anytime quickly.
Right now the director is planning a sequel to 2019’s hit Knives Out – which might once more centre on Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc – and he is beforehand mentioned that he is eager to get it made inside the subsequent yr.
But it feels like the remainder of the forged won’t be coming again, as Johnson has mentioned that he want to “do what Agatha Christie did and do a new cast and a new setting and make a few of these.”
The director can be set to make three all-new Star Wars adventures that may transfer away from the Skywalker Saga and concentrate on “new characters from a nook of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has by no means earlier than explored”.
