Captain Barnes is going down Mad Hatter’s rabbit hole on ‘Gotham’ (EXCLUSIVE)

After getting infected by the blood of Mad Hatter’s (Benedict Samuel) sister, Captain Barnes (Michael Chiklis) is falling down a perilous rabbit hole of rage on “Gotham” and there is seemingly no cure. In fact, it’s only going to get worse from here.

In an exclusive preview of “Gotham’s” next episode, “Mad City: The Executioner,” it’s clear that there may be no saving the GCPD captain. “Everyone who comes in contact with that blood eventually turns mad and psychopathic, to the point of their own destruction,” Samuel says. Barnes is no different.

He’s quickly losing his control of rage and, as was seen at the end of “Gotham’s” Nov. 7 episode, there are deadly consequences to those who cross him. “This is who I’ve always been,” Barnes says in the preview. “I just needed something to unlock it. Tonight I am the law!”

After his latest victim confessed to Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) that Barnes was behind his tragic end, how long before the captain is found out? If the look at “The Executioner” above is any indication, there’s still plenty of pain to deal before “justice is served.” Blood will be spilled on the streets of Gotham City as long as Barnes is going rogue — and it’s only a matter of time until he stops going after the worst the city’s got to offer, and starts hunting down the good.
