Ciara Is Pregnant: All the Reasons Russell Wilson Is Going to Be a Great Dad

On Tuesday night, Ciara and Russell Wilson confirmed they’re expecting their first child together.

The cute couple each took to their separate Instagram accounts to announce the news, sharing a black and white photo of the singer sitting in between her hubby’s legs as he rests his hands on her tummy.

Ciara captioned the photo, “On this special birthday I received an abundance of love from friends and family…and I’m excited to finally share one of the greatest gifts of all that god could give.”

Russell posted the same picture, writing, “The greatest blessing of all. Forever grateful.”

Ciara is already a great mama to 2-year-old Future Zahir Jr., and we have absolutely no doubt that Russell will take on daddyhood like a pro, too. Why? Because he’s already proven to be truly amazing with kids.

He Shows Baby Future Lots of Love: Though Russell’s relationship with Future Jr. has caused some issues with his dad, Future, the football star has always made sure to treat him with nothing but an abundance of love. 

“[Ciara] has a little man, he’s awesome and cute as can be, he’s a special kid. I’m a stepdad now,” Russell told Maria Shriver on her “Architects for Change” web series (which you can watch here) in August. “When I see this kid, he’s 2 years old, he’s so sweet and loving, always has a smile on his face. Being a stepfather, it’s about loving the child because the child can do something amazing in his life.”

He’s Dedicated to Helping Youth: Russell launched the Why Not You foundation in 2014 with a mission that is “dedicated to creating real and lasting change in the world by motivating, empowering and preparing today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.”

During an event for the foundation in July, Russell talked about his love for Future Jr. and what being a stepfather has helped him realize. “You realize that every kid matters in this world,” he said. “Every person matters, every child matters, every heart matters, every soul matters, every mind matters..That’s why we’re here honestly, for situations like that.”

He Takes Time to Volunteer at the Children’s Hospital: Russell has spent quite a bit of time visiting the kids at Seattle Children’s Hospital, giving them support and courage to continue fighting in their individual battles.

In fact, just last week he took to Instagram after one of his visits and shared several photos. He captioned this pic, “Coen & Zion are twins that are fighters and Overcomers! Prayers are up! @SeattleChildrens.”

He Knows How to Make Kids Laugh: The quarterback hosted the 2016 Kids’ Choice Sports Awards and knew exactly what to do and say to get the kids cracking up. From being slimed to dressing up like an old lady, the entire crowd loved him.

He’s Inspirational: Russell gave a speech at the University of Wisconsin’s graduation earlier this year, during which he told his own story and explained how he got through the pain after losing his dad.

He told the crowd, “If you know what you’re capable of, if you’re always prepared and you keep things in perspective, then life has a way of turning a no into a yes.”

He Participates in Family Fun: For example, he was all about a recent trip to Disneyland with Ciara and baby Future, smiling from eat-to-ear as they posed with Mickey Mouse.

A source told E! News at the time, “They were both in a really good mood. Russell kept pretending to run because he didn’t want to go on the ride but Ciara kept pulling him back and laughing. It was really cute.”

He Shows So Much Respect for Ciara: One of the biggest things a dad can do is show his children respect for their mother. Russell is constantly gushing about how much he loves Ciara and how much he inspires her.

For example, he shared this photo with the caption, “Congrats my sweet love. @Revlon could not pick a more stunning & gorgeous Global Brand Ambassador than you. You deserve the world & you will always have mine. I Love You. #RevlonXCiara #ChooseLove.”
