Highlight on New Movie Released DVD
Admit it, when Claire Haas (Marcia Cross) said that her son would be heading the new, private task force targeted at catching terrorists, you threw a small victory party in celebration of Caleb’s (Graham Rogers) return.
Now, “Quantico” has thrown us all for a loop by introducing Caleb’s brother as Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and the gang’s new boss. Technically, he is Claire’s son, but we still feel hoodwinked.
Caleb’s less exciting (but no less handsome) brother, Clay (Hunter Parrish) has quite the impressive resume according to Shelby (Johanna Braddy). He worked at The Children’s Defense Fun before moving on to write for “The Daily Show,” after which he went to Quantico only to end up writing speeches for Eric Garcetti. He’s basically Democrat Ken, which has us wondering why “Quantico” would position him so close to Shelby.

While Shelby’s brief romance with Leon (Aarón Díaz) wasn’t lighting any fires with fans, we can’t imagine “Quantico” would be transparent enough to try to make a new romance work between her and Caleb-lite. All signs point in that direction though, right down to the combative, “I hate you, but secretly find you super hot” banter they’ve exchanged thus far.
The fact that Clay is engaged — to a woman Shelby went out of her way to mention is basically a paragon of feminism — makes us a little less wary. There’s no way Shelby would cut in on a woman she admires for supporting other women. Right?
In other new, this new task force hasn’t changed the makeup of “Quantico” in any major ways as of yet. It’s still a mashup of glitz and glamour missions, with the occasional conspiracy theory thrown in. This time they’re just committed to solving the entire puzzle before going after suspected terrorists, which should help keep the pacing of the show at a steady clip.
It also helps that we’re nearly 100 percent sure that no one on the team is in cahoots with the bad guys this time around. We’ve had quite enough of that, thank you.
“Quantico” airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
