Jennifer Lopez producing drama about a lesbian couple for ABC Family
Jennifer Lopez is coming to ABC Family, both behind the scenes and potentially in front of the camera.
Lopez and her producing partner, Simon Fields, are developing a drama project with the cable channel about a lesbian couple and their kids, Deadline reports. The couple — one a police officer, the other a teacher — has one biological son and two adopted kids and takes in a teenage girl as the series kicks off.
The “American Idol” judge may also guest-star on the show if it’s picked up to series.
The project is Lopez’s first foray into producing a scripted show since “South Beach,” a short-lived UPN drama that aired in 2006.
Actor-turned-writer and producer Peter Paige (“Queer as Folk”) and Brad Bredeweg created the show and will executive produce with Lopez, Fields and Greg Gugliotta. Paige and Bredeweg previously created The CW’s unscripted show “Fly Girls.”
